Acupuncture practised at Labyrinth is TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) acupuncture. It is ‘not’ the same as dry needling and/or Western medical acupuncture which is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture and is generally used as part of a physical therapy plan.
TCM acupuncture is an ‘ancient’ holistic therapy which aims to restore balance and harmony throughout the whole body, rather than just treating symptoms, but to address the ‘root’ cause of imbalances.
TCM acupuncture practitioners are trained in Chinese Medicine using an in depth detailed assessment to create a personalised treatment plan. Their training is extensive and their theoretical foundations and diagnostic methods are significantly different to western medical acupuncture/dry needling.
